Anvisa Publishes New Measures to Ban Cosmetics used in Injectable Form
Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) has published two resolutions with measures to ban cosmetics in injectable form, suspending the trade, distribution, manufacture and use of products from the companies PHD Cosméticos and Biometik, due to irregularities. These products were wrongly classified as cosmetics, but were used in injectable form. Following complaints, Anvisa carried out inspections which confirmed the irregularities and the lack of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices. This action is part of Anvisa’s efforts to combat the inappropriate use of cosmetics as injectables, following serious adverse events last year.
